Sikligars in Jaipur

Sikligar in Jaipur Rajasthan. Their elderly came from Pakistan in 1947 before living in Jaipur they lived in a small village of Haryana Bolni. There are five Deras in Jaipur: Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Galta Get, Triveni, Shalimar, where Sikligars are living. There are around 300 hundred houses in Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, about their occupation before they used to make weapons and polish weapon, now all are working of RCC and fabrication work. They have been working since the freedom of India and before.

Sikligars in Jhalana (Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar)

Education:  What I think about education in Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar Jaipur we can say that there is a quite good condition among other deras (colonies) whether it is Gurmat or academic. 60 children are studying in Guru Nanak Sr. Sc. School they are providing them Uniform, shoes, Books and more. There is a computer lab also in Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar from this lab 80 children have been learning computer skills. With the help of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle and Kinder Care School, the children had a Gurmat camp last year. 

And they do Kirtan now some of the boys made a group for fundraising the started collecting 20-50 rupees from each boy to fulfil the needs of small kids like pencils, notebooks, and more. This group collects small children from the Dera (colony) to teach them Gurmukhi and the group members initiative in Holi to not to make it. Youths in Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, a boy is working as an advocate under his senior in Rajasthan high court and two girls are also doing B. ED that’s how some youths are making them future.

And some of them are just losing their future to take many kinds of intoxication people are suffering. Some of them have many children.   

Malviya Nagar                                                                                             

Sikligars in Malviya Nagar before they all were living in Talvada than they bought their own plots in Kota. They worked as a farmer in Kota they did not get many benefits there as a farmer. To survived they borrowed money from other people. Because of no work in Kota, after some time they sold their homes and all came to Jaipur in research for work. Now they do not have their own plots in Jaipur here also they are suffering. When I asked Harnek Singh for his past he told me that they also were from Pakistan and they also used to do farming and make weapons now they all do same work fabrication and RCC. Most women also go to work in other people house and there are many people suffering from daisies. In Malviya Nagar where children are not getting a good education. While talking to a woman she told me that we also want our children to learn Gurmukhi and Gatka like other children.

Most children are not going to school because nobody is empowering them to the study they always say that we do not have money to give our children a good education. In every dera girls and boys say that we do not need to study because after 15 our parents will force us to get married and some of them leave their study because of their financial problem. If we talk about all deras children are taking kind of intoxication which is a very bad situation here because of their bad behaviour in the market one of the boy killed.  What I imagine here most of the children are not studying and in a home 2-3 brothers family are living together under one roof with their them children.

 Sikligars in Galta Get

In Galta Get two types of Sikligars are living the one who says we are not Sikh or Hindu but they are known as Sikligar and they speak the same language in Sikligari. About their occupation, they all of use to make utensils kadai, paruna, chhalni, fireplace and more. To sell the utensils they go to Anand Pur Sahib Punjab in Holamahala or Hajur Sahib Nanded all of they do not keep hair and women wear ghagra choli all are uneducated twenty families are living in Galta Get and their children are working with their parents.

About another one, they all faith in Guru Granth Sahib speaks the same language and do same work fabrication and RCC. Some of their children studying in high schools and they also came from the same place Bolni Haryana after 1947. There is no Gurdwara sahib 50 houses are there in Galta Get.

Sikligars in Shalimar

Shalimar there are fifteen houses in Shalimar before staying in their own houses they live in a fort the fort called (Hataroi Kila) after sometimes they all make their own house. All are doing the same work and they are also from Pakistan. About the education in Shalimar most of the youth are working now they are making a Gurudwara Sahib it is under construction and having Gurmat classes also.

Sikligars in Triveni Nagar 

It is very small dera in Triveni Nagar they have been living there since 2000. Five to seven families are living there. Before living in Triveni Nagar they lived in Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar Jhalana there also they have a good life. They all have their own home and about their occupation, they also do RCC and fabrication work like every dera they are also from Pakistan.

In Jaipur, we can say that all deras where Sikligars are living some of them having a good life and some people are just suffering till now. Some of them do not have their own house they are staying on rent or some of have many children. What I imagine about my society we need education and with this, we can help our kom there is a saying. Education is the most powerfull weapon to change the world. How Sikligar use to make weapon if they can make their weapon to education really we can change something.
